Unicyclingtom's MC2 Honda Civic.

Postby unicyclingtom » Fri Sep 21, 2012 1:31 pm

I've had my Honda Civic Aerodeck for about 3 years now and this is what I've done so far

Here is my Cascade Green Pearl coloured VTi deck as I brought it, with full Honda History and only 58k

First 'Mod' I have done, (if you can call it a Mod) was to get a full Thule roof rack system capable of carrying my family's collection of mountain bikes. I brought Thule Aero bars and the foot pack together with 4x Thule Pro ride cycle carriers

Image

Oh and a dog guard!!

Then I got a custom made cat back system, because you can't buy an off the shelf one for the Aerodeck

I then upgraded the panel filter to K&N added Denso iridium Plugs, and Hamp shortie oil filter.

I then found a super rare OEM mid level spoiler

It's going to be the only one in the WORLD in Cascade Green Pearl

And here it is

and fitted.

I then set about de-badging the rear of the Civic :)

I have left two badges on the back

Image

Cracked out the old Humbrol paints and had a little bash at tidying up the Aerodeck one :D

Then I had to sort out the terrible handling of the Aerodeck, First port of call was the MG ZS 180 Shocks and springs.

Image

A friend from the civic5 owners club lent me a had fitting them.

Image

Then I drove it home, Fook me sideways the wrong end of a brush! What a difference!
I can now Pilot round a rounabout without feeling sea sick and when the IABS open the back end doesn't bog down anymore.

Before and after shot to give you an idea of the drop. It's very small

Image
Image

Now it drives like a proper car!! Not a boat

4 Bikes, 4 People, 1 Dog, 1 Unicycle and all the tools and Kit for a day out on the bikes, no problem and still enough power to overtake stuff on the way home
And the best news, the MGZS suspension has been brilliant even under a full load.

The Aerodeck as standard doesn't even have an anti-roll bar
So I got an MG ZS 180 one.

Image

Image

The Handling has gone from Granddad to great!

I then got hold of a second hand Jap-speed 4-1 manifold and de-cat

Image

Cleaned it up and wrapped it.

Image

And fitted it.

Image

I then set about a full chrome delete, the chrome annoyed me! :x

Image

Image

Image

Much better!

Then I found some new wheels

Image

Image

Image

The rear wheels, just caught the arches so I had the rears rolled.

Image

And so far that's it!

I do love a good Aerodeck stuffing, this was our holiday to Cornwall in August..

Image
:D

And this is how the Civic sounds currently..

Image
It's slow because it had two bikes and a unicycle on the roof!! :)

You have to travel a bit to get to it ;)

It's on the A40 Monmouth South Wales, nothing like it round these parts!

South Wales is blessed with some mighty fine dual carriageway tunnels. Closest thing round here is the bridge that goes underneath the new Weymouth relief road and that's all over in a couple of seconds. :(

Last night on the way home I remembered how much fun being on my own and staying in second gear is down the back lanes :) :)

Definitely practical and exciting ;)

To be honest I'm not a fan of the whole satin/matt black thing on my own car, someone else's, awesome! ;)
